Brand Info

Sylvana and Loes, the creators of Kleine Schobbejak make children's clothes that fit in with the perception of children. Playful and magical, their jackets and vests inspire connection to the land and the worlds of imagination.

Syl and Loes have been inspired by the Rudolf Steiner's Waldorf school their children attend, and by the whimsical books published by Sibylle Von Olfers, such as the story of the Root Children.

They believe a coat should not be too tight, "because that is not comfortable when you climb a tree!" They would like to see children clothing a little more playful, and they have created it.

They use certified natural fibers such as wool and cotton, and even make the buttons of their Spring and Autumn coats themselves from the wood of fruit trees or golden laburnum. They cut and sand the buttons and finish them with beeswax.

(schobbejak is Dutch for rascal, and 'jakje' also means 'little coat')

Care Instructions

Spot clean.

We recommend using our Ox-gall stain remover for any stubborn stains on the boiled wool.

Hand wash with a wool friendly soap. Keep water temperature consistent for the wash and rinse. Water is ideal at near room temperature or about 65 degrees. Roll in a towel to remove excess water and lay flat to dry after reshaping.

We can't recommend a wool wash setting on your washing machines, as all machines are different.

To improve the water resistance you can use Disana's lanolin conditioner and add it to a spray bottle that has a fine mist and mist the jacket.

Adding lanolin to the vest will make it more dirt repellent, and allow for less physical cleaning.

If you wish, you may also dry clean this item.
